NBA 2K27 Season 2 celebrates the start of the new NBA season with Indiana stars Caitlin Clark and Tyrese Haliburton taking center stage. The update introduces GOAT Builds based on NBA legends, new content and improvements for Crew Divisions, and a refreshed soundtrack featuring several new music mixes.
2K has announced that Season 2 of NBA 2K27 will launch on Friday, October 16, just in time for the NBA Tip-Off. The new season features Deluxe Edition cover athlete Caitlin Clark and Indiana basketball star Tyrese Haliburton. Players can return to a remastered version of Sunset Beach in The City and try the new GOAT Builds inspired by legendary NBA players.
The 2K Beats soundtrack also receives one of its biggest seasonal updates, with music selected by Tyrese Haliburton, a celebration of Space Jam’s 30th anniversary, and new songs inspired by Rucker Park and the culture of New York basketball. NBA 2K27 will also become available on the Windows PC Store on October 16.
One of the main additions is GOAT Builds, which go beyond the usual physical and attribute limits of the MyPLAYER Builder. Based on NBA legends, these builds feature fixed attributes and animations to preserve each player’s distinctive characteristics, while still allowing access to Badges, Cap Breakers, and other features.
The available builds at launch include Klay Thompson, Carmelo Anthony, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, and others. Players will also be able to unlock additional GOAT Builds by earning REP and completing Lifetime Challenges.
The City welcomes back Sunset Beach, originally featured in NBA 2K17. The remastered location includes its iconic coastal scenery, a view of the volcano, and the giant fish tank. Players can earn XP in The City, MyCAREER, and MyTEAM as they work toward Level 40.
Rewards include a 4-Person Golf Cart at Level 18, the Indiana Pacers mascot ‘Boomer’ at Level 20, the Dirk Nowitzki GOAT Build at Level 33, and the Clown Costume: Ankle Taker at Level 39, along with other rewards.
Crew Divisions also receive several changes. Season 2 starts with Double Crew XP on the rewards track and a 25% REP bonus in all Crew Divisions games. Crew HQ now uses REC-level difficulty, while the Squad Showdown Kiosk retains competitive sliders for private matches.
In MyTEAM, the Premier Exchange allows players to trade cards from their collections for exclusive roster upgrades. These include Pixel Cut Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, an 11-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection and four-time NBA Blocks Leader. Season 2 rewards begin with a Diamond Jason Kidd at Level 1 and progress to Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns at Level 40.
The Season 2 soundtrack adds music from Blackpink, BossMan Dlow, Linkin Park and other artists. There are five new mixes in total, including one put together by Tyrese Haliburton with tracks from Gunna, Meek Mill and more.
The update also marks the 30th anniversary of Space Jam, features French artists and adds ten songs inspired by Rucker Park. The complete NBA 2K27 soundtrack is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
Season 2 also brings new rewards through the Pro Pass and Hall of Fame Pass. The Pro Pass adds 40 levels of premium content with a spooky theme. Rewards include a Jack-O’-Lantern Scarecrow Costume, a Headhunter Mask, a 94 OVR Pascal Siakam and a Pro Pass Pack.
Other items available as players progress include Jack-O’-Lantern Facepaint at Level 3, the Cleveland Cavaliers mascot ‘Sir C.C.’ at Level 12, the Fire Face Body Mod at Level 18 and the Washington Wizards mascot ‘G-Wiz’ at Level 30. Reaching Level 40 unlocks a Pro Pass Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns, with more rewards available along the way.
Patch 2.0 is now live, with changes to Gameplay, MyTEAM, Crew HQ and MyCAREER Eras. The latter now lets players build a career lasting 25 years across multiple eras.
The patch also addresses ghost contests on shots and makes adjustments to steal animations and the penalties associated with them, alongside other fixes. The full list of changes is available in the official patch notes.
NBA 2K27 will also be available on the Windows PC Store from October 16, the same day Season 2 begins. Buying any digital edition on Xbox includes a digital copy for Windows PC. The same applies in reverse: players who purchase the game on the Windows PC Store will also receive the Xbox digital version.
