With Grand Theft Auto VI less than a month away from release, fans are increasingly focused on the people behind the game’s characters.
Rockstar Games has kept the identities of most of the cast under wraps, but many fans have believed for years that Manni L. Perez is the actress behind Lucia, the game’s female protagonist, both in terms of her appearance and voice.
In recent hours, a short livestream hosted by the actress has gone viral online, largely because of how carefully she avoided any mention of the upcoming game.
Perez went live on an Instagram account that has only been active for six months and has just nine posts. Despite that, her 12-minute livestream attracted more than 2,100 viewers at the same time.
She focused entirely on her personal life, talking about growing up in a small rural town, her love of cooking, and how she learned to drive trucks when she was young. She described a simple lifestyle that seems far removed from the glamorous world of entertainment.
“No, really, I’m not rich. I’m just a completely normal person. I live in a small studio apartment that I absolutely love, with a tiny kitchen. It’s just me and my dog. I’ve been doing everything on my own for a very long time, and I really enjoy it. I’m grateful for what I have. I have a family that loves me, and I feel like I’m in a really good place in my life.”
As she smiled and talked about wanting to buy a green van, the livestream’s chat kept filling up with direct references to Lucia and GTA VI.
Viewers tried all sorts of ways to get a reaction from her. Some jokingly suggested that she wasn’t really living alone because Jason was there to keep her company, while others took a more subtle approach, asking whether she planned to play Rockstar’s latest game or if she was “ready for next month.”
Aware that confirming anything could violate a non-disclosure agreement, Perez handled the situation carefully. She continued interacting with viewers but only responded to messages that had nothing to do with video games.
Her behavior has only given fans more reasons to believe the theories they have been discussing for years. Although Rockstar Games has yet to officially confirm her involvement, fans believe there are already plenty of clues pointing in that direction.
Manni L. Perez has built up considerable experience in both live-action acting and voice work. She has appeared in individual episodes of well-known TV series such as Jessica Jones, The Blacklist, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
There is also a direct connection to the same game developer: Perez previously provided the voice of a blackjack dealer in Grand Theft Auto Online.
Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with the PC Steam version expected to follow at a later date.
